Virginia Craig - Owner/Stylist

"Did her first mural at age 5.  Used all 64 Crayons.  Mom was not impressed. But, Grandma was."

Moving about Pageboy in an unpretentious and quiet way, Ginny is always keeping an eye out for influences that feed her creativity whether from nature or manmade. With a degree in Art Education and Interior Design from Lambuth as well as attending our own Memphis College of Art it goes without saying that Ginny has an eye for things of beauty and form. Her past history and love with art is evident in the styles she creates for her clients.  Take a closer look as you walk around Pageboy and you will see some of the art gracing the walls that Ginny has drawn. In fact the charcoal drawing of the Pageboy girl in the ads for Pageboy was created by our own Ginny.

Ginny graduated with a Cosmetology degree from Plaza Beauty School and has owned her own salon for the past 4 yrs including being one of the founders for Pageboy Salon that opened in 2008.  Ginny draws inspiration from past historical and decorative art to pop culture film. Using skills learned in art Ginny creates styles and cuts to best suit the face and personality of her clients. Such inspiration gives Ginny the ability to style hair conservatively to the uninhibited.

  Rod Henson - Owner/Stylist

"I've got a song that ain't got no melody. I'm gonna sing it to myself. Sing along."

If the walls are rocking then Rod is in the HOUSE! Energy seems to naturally flow from Rod. Rod's fun and sassy attitude is a confidence in his ability to create the perfect style to suite his clients and comes from literally a lifetime of experience.  At ten years of age Rod rolled his first perm. Rod found out that although the perm technique is one he easily mastered was not one to be worn by this twelve year old and said goodbye to this style of coiffure and stuck to giving them.  Word got around in his home town and Rod continued to grow his sense for dramatic style by creating the looks for all his friends attending the Rave dances.

Rod is always looking trendy and fashionable from head to toe and believes his clients should walk away from his chair feeling confident in the way they look and feel. Music inspires Rod in every aspect of his life from performing with his current band, Blackberry Wednesday, to creating his clients perfect cut or color.  Additional influences come from early American film and the classic Hippie beauty.  Rod's edgy artistic lifestyle comes through in his creative hairstyles.

Rod is a graduate of Plaza Beauty School and apprenticed under Terry Lesley while building his career over a seven year span. He moved to East Memphis and opened a salon in the Racquet Club and is one of the founders of Pageboy Salon that opened in 2008.

April Rankin - Founder/Stylist

"Tell me everything. Right now, you're the center of my universe."

"Need a little you time? I need a little you time, too."

April's caring chair side manner is one that is sensitive to diverse personalities. She wants her clients to feel good about their lives when they leave her chair no matter what they are experiencing in the personal lives at the moment.  Hair is an extension of who you are and April pays attention to the inside as well as the outside.

April's influence comes from her clients themselves, "I find such beauty in all people".  I love to sit and talk and genuinely listen to my clients about their hair and any concerns they may have regarding their hair.  April loves art especially the shading, depth and contrast involved in art. These are design elements that April uses when creating color for a clients hair, "It isn't random...every highlight, every lowlight has a purpose".  April is an artist and in her spare time creates charcoal sketches of nature, people and the abstract.

April has been a hair stylist since the age of 17 when she attended The Master's Institute of Cosmetology, a World renowned Pivot Point Academy where she received advanced haircutting training directly under Gary and Ann Bray, world champions in Hair Artistry. April has always felt that education is key in her industry and has always been hungry for as much advanced training as she could get. Early in April's career she apprenticed under Terry Lesley of Germantown as well as traveled and worked in several cities throughout the United States.

April has been involved in competing on the local and National level in Cutting and Coloring receiving honors and recognition from her peers. She has trained with some of the leaders in the industry in Advanced Cutting and Advanced Coloring for years. April became the Color Director in a salon in Knoxville, Tennessee  in which during this time she trained others in Progressive Hair coloring and Corrective Coloring. April has written Apprenticeship programs for salons to implement in training of newer stylists and taught Advanced cutting to other stylists in their pursuit to become Master Stylists.

April has been a salon owner for the past four years and a founder of Pageboy in 2008.

  Chris Farrar - Stylist

"I'm funky. We can say that around here, right?"

Chris's funky style and free spirit lends to his uncomplicated personality. His fun loving attitude lends to the excitement of your "hair day" the day for getting pampered  and upon immediately meeting Chris you feel comfortable like the best friend you could tell anything. However, your beauty secrets are safe with Chris because of his warm and caring personality. Chris is naturally a creative person and has always been fascinated with art which is where he draws his inspiration for his hair styles he creates. Chris's creative outlets range from painting to writing.  Chris wants his clients to feel good about themselves and is happy to create the latest trend or is happy to accommodate if all you need is a fresh look with a style/blow dry.  

Chris is fascinated with the texture of hair which tends to draw him to working primarily with women's hair.  Chris has traveled to New York to become certified in Japanese Hair Straightening as well as trained in the Keratin process of hair smoothing.  Chris has the expertise to handle the toughest of hair challenges whether straight or curly.

Chris realized it was his calling to become a hair stylist while involved in salon ownership and salon management here in the city of Memphis. Chris has a Cosmetology Degree from the Plaza Beauty School.

Pageboy carries a full line of shampoo, conditioner and styling products that support the Keratin hair process.

From the street it's a traditional east Memphis cottage. But, on the inside it's a lively vibe with an eclectic style that features modern and retro decor. From the animal skin rug in front of a traditional fireplace, to the jukebox, to the 1950's original furnishings and shag rug in the waiting lounge you get a sense of the artistic personalities of the stylists. Upon entering Pageboy you get a charge from the energy flowing out of each station. In this fun and funky environment where stories abound you always leave with your "look" on.

Sometimes it shows up in the form of a charcoal sketch you'll see on the walls of our salon.Other times in the form of a new hair style for you.
